Position: Care Co-ordinator
Salary: £16,000 -£18,000 per annum plus bonus 20%
Location: Wembley, Middlesex


Main Function

Recruitment, selection, rostering and retention of high calibre social carewokers to provide a service to enable private clients and service users remain in their own homes independently.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities


1. Careworker Recruitment

1.1 Organising and co-ordinating recruitment campaigns locally to attract potential candidates.

1.2 Using ‘Best Practice’ to interview and select the right candidates (correct procedures e.g. Company Application Form, Checklists, CRB and Reference Collections).

1.3 Ensure all Applications/Records are compliant with ‘Best Practice’.

1.4 Organising necessary Induction/NVQ training for successful candidates.

1.5 Updating Careworker’s Manual and Computer Records accordingly.

1.6 Ensure successful Careworker issued with Employment Contract has opportunity to read Careworker Handbook along making himself/herself familiar with company’s policies and procedures.

1.7 Ensure working within the recruitment guidelines as laid down by CSCI and CSCW.

2. Placing Careworkers/Candidates

2.1 On successful completion of Induction, matching client/service user needs using ‘Rostering’ system (Coldharbour) to place on assignments.

2.2 Ensure faxed receipt of signed Purchase Order to match service required before organising delivery of care from Local Authority commissioning the care.

2.3 Discussing the assignment with both the client and careworker to ensure care arrangements are agreed and understood by the parties.

2.4 Ensuring that clients and careworkers are notified of all conditions relating to the assignment, including cost to the client, commission rates and careworker’s rate of pay.

2.5 Ensure that all information from the client/service user is passed onto the careworker in an efficient manner, including location of premises, work area, name of contact, associated risks and any other special instructions.

2.6 To take part in on call cover as per team requirements and to ensure timely and efficient handover at the end of each day (when covered by yourself) to other members of the team responsible for the on call duties at evenings and weekends and to receive handover report in return the following day on commencement of duty.

2.8 Establish and enter client and employee initial registration details and client/member care arrangements into a computerised system to enable the production of invoices and associated Accounting/Payroll information.

3.1 Regular liaison with Careworkers via telephone, team meetings and one to one meetings to give opportunity to Careworkers to raise concerns and feel valued.

3.2 Ensure all queries are answered immediately, particularly if there are queries with regard to payment.

3.2 Ensuring Careworkers have enough work to enable them to fulfill their own personal needs and financial security.

3.3 Follow up with Careworker when a new assignment has been completed.

3.4 Ensure each Careworker has at least one Appraisal Meeting a year where objectives are set and training and career objectives can be discussed.

3.5 Following NVQ progress and other course updates with Careworker.

3.6 Motivating the Careworkers through regular liaison, remembering their birthday, inviting them to drop into the office if in locality, open days, festive promotions e.g. tea and mince pie and Christmas.

3.7 Maximising information on database to ensure all careworkers under your remit are able to work within the area of their expertise and ensure full utilization on a daily basis.
